JACKLIN TZOCHEVA: WE INVEST IN COMPETITIVENESS AND A BETTER WORLD

The Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director at Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria speaks to BGlobal magazine

What benefits does Green Transformation bring to your business?

Going green brings significant benefits not only to our business and our company but to all of us as part of the communities in which we live and work. We've seen economic, military, financial, and social turmoil, but we've been able to adapt successfully and build on our investments in innovation and technology that deliver energy efficiency, reduce resource consumption, and help us achieve our long-term sustainability goals. In doing so, we are improving our competitiveness and creating a better world for those who come after us. All our efforts help us stay true to our values and demonstrate that the quality of what we do and how we do it are essential to our success.

Of course, when change is not just in words but in deeds, the results are not delayed. We have met some of our 2025 targets ahead of schedule, such as reducing direct carbon emissions by 30% compared to 2010, while global emissions have increased by 12.4% over that period.

In 2023, we have made significant progress - our two plants in Kostinbrod and Bankia are now operating with 100% green electricity. We are striving to decarbonize our operations, switching to renewable energy sources and low-carbon alternatives. Our Green Fleet program and our new generation of energy-efficient coolers are also examples of innovation on the road to our big goal of Net Zero by 2040.

The protection of water resources is another priority for us, especially since Bulgaria is on the list of areas with increased water risk. We are members of the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) and proof of our efforts is the significant 16% reduction in water consumption at our production centers in Kostinbrod and Bankia.
