Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria is joining the sixth edition of the sports charity initiative “Challenge Yourself for a Cause”, organized by the Teach for Bulgaria Foundation. From 12 to 27 September, company employees will take part in the 16-day challenge, walking between 10,000 and 12,000 steps a day in support of the new cohort of 35 teachers participating in the “A New Way to Teaching” program.

The charity sports challenge kicked off on 12 September with an opening event in Sofia, where participants took their first 10,000 steps together. Over the following days, teams will continue the challenge from different locations across the country and will be able to track their progress through the Big Team Challenge platform.

“What makes this initiative particularly valuable is that it gives our team the opportunity to do something truly meaningful together – both for our own well-being and for an important social cause. In “Challenge Yourself for a Cause”, everyone contributes personally – through their time, effort and donation – while the company stands behind the team’s collective contribution. We are delighted to be part of the initiative this year and to support the work of the Teach for Bulgaria Foundation and its efforts to improve the quality of education in Bulgaria,” said Lilya Velinova, Customer & Community Partnerships Manager at Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria.

The donations raised through “Challenge Yourself for a Cause” will support the training and development of early-career teachers. The “A New Way to Teaching” program addresses one of the major challenges facing Bulgarian education – early-career teachers leaving the education system within the first few years of their professional journey. The program aims to help more early-career teachers remain in the classroom

Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria’s participation in “Challenge Yourself for a Cause” is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the communities where it operates. Supporting the initiative is a natural extension of the company’s long-standing efforts in education and youth development through its #YouthEmpowered program, which provides practical knowledge and skills to help young people make a more successful start to their careers. Since its launch in 2017, the program has reached more than 36,000 young people in Bulgaria, helping them build skills for future employment.
