The Macallan unveils The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release – a new limited edition single malt Scotch whisky created to mark the 55th anniversary of the iconic film Diamonds Are Forever. The release pays tribute to James Bond’s refined appreciation of sherry wine and the shared values that connect The Macallan and the legendary 007: craftsmanship, innovation and the art of telling unforgettable stories.

Following The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release in 2022, this new expression continues the creative partnership between the two iconic brands. Crafted by The Macallan Whisky Maker Russell Greig, the whisky draws inspiration from the plot of Diamonds Are Forever, including Bond’s knowledge of sherry and red wine.

Distilled in 2-007 and matured for 18 years, this limited edition single malt whisky captures the intrigue, duality and unexpected twists that define Diamonds Are Forever. It has been crafted using bespoke hybrid casks made from sherry-seasoned European and American oak, complemented by American oak casks that previously held red wine. This selection was inspired by scenes in the film where Bond’s expertise in wine helps him uncover crucial clues. The result is a whisky with depth, character and delicate sweetness, showcasing The Macallan’s innovative approach and uncompromising craftsmanship.

On the nose, the whisky reveals sophisticated notes of polished oak, vanilla and rich dried fruits. The palate unfolds smoothly with layers of caramel and cocoa-dusted truffles, followed by fruit-driven complexity and a subtle hint of nutmeg. The finish is long, elegant and refined.

Bottled at 45.5% ABV, the whisky impresses with a natural colour inspired by the red-orange sandstone of the Nevada desert surrounding Las Vegas – one of the film’s key locations.

The design of both the bottle and presentation box draws inspiration from original Diamonds Are Forever production materials preserved in the official James Bond archives – from the laser-beam satellite to the film’s iconic opening sequence. The release offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Bond’s world while showcasing The Macallan’s ability to tell stories through craftsmanship, flavour and design.

The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release will be available via www.themacallan.com. Bulgarian enthusiasts of The Macallan will also have the opportunity to experience this special release, which will be available locally through Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria, the brand’s official distributor in the country.
