Local whisky connoisseurs can now find the second release in the series - TIME : SPACE Mastery

At a special event in the capital that brought together some of Bulgaria's most loyal whisky connoisseurs, The Macallan unveiled its TIME : SPACE anniversary collection, consisting of two editions, TIME : SPACE and TIME : SPACE Mastery. Inspired by the brand's concept of time travel, they are housed in special decanters created using ancient techniques and state-of-the-art technology. The limited edition TIME : SPACE, consisting of only 200 bottles worldwide, each representing a year in the brand's history, took centre stage at the event. It caught the attention of attendees with its exceptional design and impressive history, and a Bulgarian collector was among only 200 connoisseurs worldwide to own the anniversary bottle.

TIME : SPACE's flagship release is housed in a unique double-chambered vessel that brings together two single-malt whiskies. The outer chamber contains The Macallan's 84-year-old whisky, symbolic of the past and distilled back in 1940. This makes it the brand's oldest single malt whisky, bettering The Macallan's record of The Reach. At the same time, the whisky that sits in the central chamber is the first whisky from The Macallan's new distillery to be distilled in 2018, embodying the future of the brand and its commitment to impeccable quality in whisky making. The limited edition is housed in an oak sculpture that has been specially designed to highlight the whisky's 100% natural colour, and alternating layers of American and European oak have been chosen to craft it in homage to the brand's tradition of using oak sherry casks.

At the event, The Macallan's Regional Ambassador for Eastern Europe and Greece Anna Metaxas said, "Working with The Macallan is an immense joy and pleasure, arguably the best job in the world. TIME : SPACE represents everything The Macallan stands for, looking back in the past with the oldest whisky ever to be released by the brand, the present and of course the exciting future with the first single malt from our new distillery.”

TIME : SPACE Mastery, the second release in the anniversary series, brings together 200 years of history and pays tribute to the art of the whisky masters. This release is the result of 14 distinctive cask types, offering versatility and remarkable depth of texture, aroma and flavour. The whisky is presented in a specially crafted circular decanter, embodying the cycle of time and the continuous journey from the past to the future. It is housed in a bright red box, a symbol of The Macallan, “protecting” it with 200 spikes that represent the 200th anniversary of the brand and the protection of nature's most precious and fragile things. The carefully designed details, inspired by the art of origami, add further value to the anniversary edition.
