Volunteers from Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria with a reforestation initiative in Plovdiv

Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria employees conducted an afforestation action by planting 40 ash trees in Trakiya district in Plovdiv.

The trees were a donation from the company, and their planting supported the Plovdiv Municipality’s initiative to green the neighborhood and the city.

The afforestation action is part of the long-standing environmental and educational program of the Coca-Cola System in Bulgaria “My Green City”, which is being held for the 16th consecutive year. It is implemented in support of Coca-Cola's global commitments to achieve by 2030 the equivalent of 100% collection and recycling of every bottle or can sold by the company, and by 2040 to become a carbon-neutral company.

As part of the previous editions of the initiative, employees from the Coca-Cola System in the country have managed to green, clean, and beautify several areas, woodlands, and parks. Every year, in support of the campaign, locations are selected where volunteer work is necessary and useful in the overall care of the environment and contributes to the improvement of the ecological conditions and resources in certain locations. In the last edition of the initiative alone, more than 1 000 Coca-Cola employees and their families removed over 800 tons of household waste and more than 650 tons of separately collected waste from the Bulgarian map. In their previous volunteer campaigns, they managed to plant over 7 acres of forests, clean over 30 km of coastal areas, transform 10 public transport stops in Sofia into plastic collection containers and support many other community initiatives.
